If you are a fan of Korean dramas/movies, then you are not new to this food!
Tteokbokki is a famous street food in Korea made from rice cake, fish cake and chili paste (Gochujang). There are different versions of how to cook Tteokbokki and different side ingredients (aside from the three main ones).
That’s why I decided to make my own version! I’m not really a fan of rice cake (tteok), the reason why I made tofu an alternative.
Here are the ingredients that I used:
- Tofu (cut in strips)
- Fish cakes (cut in square, or whichever size you prefer)
- Crab sticks (optional)
- White onion

For the sauce:
- 2 cups of water (400 ml)
- 3-4 tsp Brown sugar (depends on how sweet you want it)
- 3-4 tbsp Gochujang (Korean chili paste; also depends on how spicy you want it to be)
- 3-4 tbsp Soy Sauce
- 3 tbsp Rice wine
- 3 tbsp Sesame oil
- sesame seeds (for garnish)
You can watch the video of how I made my own version of Tteokbokki below:
